POWERFUL STATE LEGISLATORS ENDORSE
ARLIE RICASA FOR 78TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT SEAT
Senator Ducheny, Senator Kehoe and
Assemblymember Salas Endorse Arlie Ricasa
(San Diego, CA) – In a major boost to Arlie Ricasa’s campaign for the 78th Assembly District seat, three influential state legislators from San Diego announced their endorsements of Arlie Ricasa.
State Senator Denise Moreno Ducheny, State Senator Christine Kehoe and Assemblymember Mary Salas declared their support for Ricasa for her 2008 election bid. Ricasa, President of the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) School Board, is the only candidate to receive all three legislators’ endorsements. Ricasa is seeking to replace current Assemblymember Shirley Horton who is set to vacate the seat in 2008 due to term limits. All three legislators currently represent a portion or surrounding areas of the 78th district.
“I am honored to have the support and endorsements from these three local women warriors who serve in the state legislature with distinction, passion and tenacity,” said Ricasa, the most senior-ranking and only one of two Filipino American elected officials in San Diego County.
Senator Ducheny (SD-40), Chair of the powerful Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee and the Joint Legislative Budget Committee, represents a major portion of the 78th District.
“Arlie Ricasa is the only candidate I am endorsing in the 78th Assembly District race. Arlie is an inspirational leader who has proven she can bring together diverse people and get things done. She is an effective leader who will make Sacramento legislators be more responsive to the needs of the 78th District,” Senator Ducheny said.
